About Me & My Blog
While some people are looking for jobs right now, I voluntarily resigned from mine and jumped off the corporate ladder.
Why?
Simply put, I was unhappy.
For close to five years, I worked in the advertising industry; the past two and a half, at one of the best ad agencies in the country. And though there were some bumps and snags a long the way, overall, my job was good. The people were great. And I learned a lot. Nonetheless, I started becoming unenthusiastic about work and began questioning whether or not I was passionate about what I was doing.
Conclusion: Take a leap of faith, try something different and choose happiness over status.
So, when the opportunity presented itself for me and a friend to go into business together and open a hair salon, I moved right on it and gave my two weeks notice. I remembered how much I enjoyed doing hair when I was younger and just how happy I was working in a salon while in college. I also liked the concept for the salon and thought the idea had lots of potential.
So, here I am. Now, partner-and-friend-less, but still on a mission to finish what I’ve started. And open a dern hair salon by January 1, 2010.
So, join me as I chronicle my journey to owning my own business, while trying to find myself along the way.
My hope is that we can take risks, live from the heart and be of encouragement to each other. 😉

YESSSS GIRL! I hear ya!! Wow! I have a book you should read about stepping out and going after your dream. Its called the Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson. Not everyone will understand of be supportive as you can obviously see already….but God gave you a vision and a purpose greater than working for someone else…so I salute you my sista. Working on doing the same…
God is Good!!

Nice Job Daviece, keep it up and keep your vision in front of you and run after, and continue to write, write write and write. Write the vision and make it plain is what the Bible says, so when you get busy you can always refer back to it. Without a vision the people so stay locked into that vision.

Well after talking at lunch (pratically dinner) yesterday, I commend you for choosing happiness over status quo. Not enough people do it and they just keep going with the flow, but my friend you will be so much better off obeying and following Daviece and God, than following man! You know I have your back 😉

Daviece your progress is great. Keep taking one day at a time. You are in a change mode and change is not always easy; but helpful in the long run. We are watching and praying for you and cherishing each moment of fun and laughter you have brought to Uncle George and I. “Ha,Ha,Ha”. says Uncle George.
